It’s actually quite spacious — a rare sight at UK airports these days.
Even if you don’t smoke, it’s a decent spot to grab some fresh air before boarding.

There aren’t many alternatives nearby.
One option is JustPark, which offers parking at the Alice & Wonderland site with a shuttle transfer.
The savings are fairly small — usually around £3 per day — but they start adding up if you’re away longer than a week.
For shorter trips though, it’s often easier just to pay for the airport car park and keep things simple.
Bournemouth Airport By Public Transport
Good luck… and Godspeed.
Getting to Bournemouth Airport by public transport is honestly a bit of a mission.
There’s no train station nearby, and the bus routes are limited — especially early morning or late evening when most flights operate.
For example, from Christchurch you typically need to:
- Get a bus to Bournemouth
- Then get another bus to the airport
Which is… the scenic route.
Ironically, it’s often easier to get the train and fly from Southampton Airport, where the station is basically 90 steps from the terminal.
Because of this, taxis often become the only practical option.
Expect around £25 each way from Bournemouth, so you’re looking at £50+ return before you’ve even left the country.
Not exactly the cheap local airport it once was.
Always double-check bus timetables before travelling though — sometimes the timings do line up.
If that transport link doesn’t behave, More Bus runs the main airport service.

Look — every airport needs to make money.
Especially smaller regional ones like Bournemouth.
But making pedestrian access awkward while pushing drop-off fees and poor transport options doesn’t exactly scream convenience.
Public transport and pedestrian access really need improving if Bournemouth wants to call itself an international airport.
But with Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council involved… I wouldn’t hold your breath.
As locals, we usually grab a lift.
If that’s not possible, United Taxis is usually the next best option — and you can check fares on their website or app beforehand.
But the bus?

I thought the idea of charging to drop off passengers was purely to encourage them to use public transport but there is barely any. Most large airports do offer a free drop off area. Bournemouth Airport must do this. Charging £8 is absolutely ridiculous!
