Naay Spa Experience: El Dorado Spa Resort in Mexico

As first impressions go, Náay Spa nails it.
At El Dorado Seaside Suites, the small details have a significant impact.
You have to pinch yourself to confirm it’s not a dream.
That’s before you leave the beach!
As you wander through the picturesque jungle of the Riviera Maya, you’re enveloped by the sounds of nature.
The vibrant blue caped ch’els and the calls of spider monkeys add to the enchanting atmosphere.

As you take a few slow steps forward, you can tell you’re getting closer to something special. The faint sound of trickling water and the delicate jasmine and jungle geraniums scents guide you to paradise.
The beauty and serenity of the surroundings have you questioning reality.
Pinch!

Welcome to Náay Spa: A Haven of Tranquillity
After a good wander outside, absorbing the spa surroundings, we were again struck by the soothing sounds of flowing water. Water is a prominent feature throughout the spa as an element central to Mayan healing.
Every step revealed something new and exciting to admire, from peaceful water features to intricate Mayan glyphs.
The subtle scents that drift through the air are another highlight – from mandarin and melon to eucalyptus and lavender.
We’re suckers for scents and cosy things!
As a final touch, the spa also offered infused waters and treats that were adorably packaged in small bags. It was clear that every detail had been carefully thought out to create a truly relaxing experience.

Arriving at Náay Spa, the wellness artisans will review a few details, including what type of massage you’d like and any specific areas you’d like to focus on or avoid.
I chose not to have my sore knee worked on, but I wish I had opted for my feet.
Guess who’s ticklish?
On the other hand, Russ chose not to massage his feet – he’s not a fan of feet, including his own.
Wise guy.
All the while, I just burst into a fit of laughter.
Lesson learned for this spa novice.

Get ready for your Náay Spa Day with these Tips
1) All you need to bring is yourself, a swimsuit, and a cover-up or T-shirt. You’ll receive a locker key and everything else, including clean gowns and crocs.
Let me tell you that we didn’t look like fashion icons. Far from it, dawning our oversized gowns and Crocs!
I even found some rather fetching netted Speedo-style underwear.
Have I mentioned that this resort also has an au naturel resort within? It’s called ‘Hidden Beach’, and it’s somewhat hidden. You won’t accidentally traipse into ‘parts unknown’, so don’t worry.
However, my visions eventually became a reality.
In the most anti-climactic fashion.
2) To get the full spa experience, arrive at least an hour before your appointment and participate in the water journey. It’s a free activity that you won’t want to miss.
3) Stroll around the resort before your appointment to get in the right mindset. Keep an eye out for the Alux’ dotted around the resort and near Náay Spa.

Spa Massage or Ocean Sky Massage?
Do you prefer a peaceful, low-lit or ocean-side massage with the sounds of crashing waves?
That’s a tough decision to make and has some first-world problems.
We opted for the Spa massage because it was a hot day, and the surroundings were beautiful.

The water ritual journey is an unforgettable experience that will nourish your mind, body, and soul.
We were excited to try the Water Ritual Journey because we had heard many great things about it.
Even if you’re not a spa enthusiast like us, taking care of your mental health and wellness is essential.
Especially in these current times.
A spa day can do wonders.
Each part of the journey offers a range of health benefits – it’s not just a fancy outing, as we initially thought.

The Health Benefits Of A Water Ritual Journey
- Detoxication
- Improved blood circulation that’s oxygen-rich
- Boosts immune system & improves metabolism
- Relieve stress & improve breathing
- Reduces muscle swelling
- Stimulates your nervous system

Phase 1: Mud Clay & Sauna
We began our water journey dressed in luxurious oversized gowns and Crocs.
Don’t worry; I didn’t wear the netted pants!
My shorts fit the criteria. Phew!
The first part of the journey involves applying mud to your body and spending about 10 minutes in a steamy eucalyptus-scented sauna.
It’s not mud, but we wouldn’t know what it is. Typical guys, I know!
If anyone can care to enlighten us, please feel free.
The sauna helps to open up your pores, allowing all the impurities to be sweated out of your body. There are showers in each section so that you can rinse off afterwards.
Phase 2: The Cold/Ice Room
Although we’re not fans of the cold, we knew that the second phase of the water journey would involve entering an ice room where the temperature is around 3°C.
We’ve been enjoying the warm sun in Mexico for the past ten days, so the thought of entering a cold room was a little daunting.
However, I knew the ice room could offer significant health benefits, such as boosting the immune system, improving circulation, and reducing inflammation.
I loved the experience! ALOT!
Russ, not so much.
Phase 3: Hydrotherapy Pools
The hydrotherapy pools at the spa offer three different hydro massages.
We decided to try them all by jumping into the big pool, which was heated to a comfortable 34°C.
Russ opted for the lower back massage, while I chose the neck massage fountain. After a few minutes, we swapped positions and relaxed on the massage bubble bed.
The massage bed covered every inch of our body.
I mean, every inch.
Oochey!
The plaques on each hydro massage provide detailed instructions on timing and positioning so you know exactly what to do to get the most out of the massage.
Phase 4: Three Plunge Pools!
The final phase of our water journey included three plunge pools: one that was heated to approximately 34°C, one that was cooler at around 20°C, and one that was a cold bath near freezing.
As I stepped into the last pool, I jokingly told Russ, “When in Rome, or something like that”, before dunking my head under the water.
The experience was invigorating, and I must admit, I loved it a lot.
I had never felt so rejuvenated. It was an instant sensation.
Each plunge pool offers a unique experience with different health benefits, such as boosting circulation, improving muscle recovery, and reducing inflammation.

Full Body Massage Experience at Naay Spa
After completing the water journey, it was time to try out the full-body massage everyone at the resort had been raving about.
Some guests had even booked another massage.
One wasn’t enough!
The massage therapists introduced themselves and explained that we could upgrade to scented oil for an additional $10.
These oils had a variety of appealing scents, including some unique blends with THC. We decided to use the Energise blend, which had a refreshing orangey mandarin scent.
One of the massage therapists seemed delighted we picked this scent.
She explained that her family makes this scent, which has been handed down through generations.

The massage room was dimly lit and had a calming atmosphere, with traditional Mayan decor featured throughout the spa.
During the massage, which lasted about 50 minutes, I felt myself drifting into a trance.
Until I burst into a fit of laughter!
The therapists giggled, so it must have been quite an outburst.
The massage ended with hot stones, which added extra relaxation. Overall, the full-body massage was revitalizing and rejuvenating. I wish we had booked in sooner so we had time for another!
A Word on Mental Health
We highly recommend focusing on self-care and relaxation at the spa, as it can positively benefit physical and mental health.
This is especially important for men, where suicide rates are alarmingly high. According to Samaritans, 78% of suicides in 2019-2022 were male.
Taking care of your mental well-being is a sign of strength, not weakness.
To all the spouses and partners, don’t hesitate to encourage your partner to chat or join you at the spa. It’s an excellent way for them to take a break and prioritise their well-being.
Craving That El Dorado Seaside Suites Scent?
You’ll first notice the scent when you enter the Seaside Suites lobby.
Despite the fancy chandeliers and fountains, the scent catches your attention. It’s so appealing that all five of us were walking around sniffing the air as if we had just seen Charlie Brown on the beach!
Yeah, there’s an actual guy who calls himself Charlie Brown.
You can buy these irresistible scents from the Náay Spa shop to take home.
Trust us; you’ll be hooked once you get a whiff.
That’s the scent, kids! The scent!

Final Thoughts on our Naay Spa Experience
As spa virgins breaking out of their comfort zone, we can safely say we loved the experience.
Since the pandemic, we’ve seen a decline in wellness, mental health, and overall well-being.
Including our own.
Days like this remind us of what it feels like to be human again and rejuvenated. I was ready to go back to landscaping and get all those aches and pains all over again!

¡Adiós amigos!
What a gorgeous place guys. Right up my alley. I love a sweet beach beside the jungle. Also, getting lost on the more natural side of the beach could be worth a good chuckle LOL. Fabulous review here.

Thanks for your comment, Ryan. We’re not usually ones to return to a resort, but this is one of them that we NEED to go back to!
Loved every minute of this holiday, especially waking up surrounded by the sounds of nature. Perfecto!
